Housing support is more than just shelters – housing is central to establishing the stability one needs to survive and thrive.
The mission of Volunteers of America Delaware Valley is to provide community-based assistance to populations in need so that they can lead self-fulfilled, independent lives. To this end, our supportive services division concentrates on the development of independence and self-sufficiency in our clients. We believe in treating every individual with the respect and dignity they deserve. Our focus is on addressing the specific needs of each client to help them overcome factors that might lead to homelessness. An aspect of this is offering emergency shelters and transitional housing while being a leading provider of social services.
Volunteers of America Delaware Valley offers a comprehensive and full continuum of care to individuals experiencing homelessness. Immediate, direct services include comprehensive case management, linkage to medical, mental, and behavioral health care, job readiness, employment placement, education, and housing.
The provision of rapid response and resource brokerage is critical to our work. We seek to streamline service delivery for at-risk individuals. In doing this, we can divert them away from costly crisis-oriented systems, including emergency rooms and jails. We can then guide them toward social service providers who can more appropriately address their needs.
