Hope Hall
Eligibility: Adult men on inmate full-minimum status within 24 months of parole eligibility.

Committed to reforming and improving the conditions of the United States prison system, Volunteers of America founders Ballington and Maud Booth opened the nation’s first “Hope Hall” in the late 1800s. Established 100 years later, in 1999, Volunteers of America Delaware Valley’s own Hope Hall is both a tribute and continuation of our founder’s commitment to reentry services.

Accredited by the American Correctional Association and contracted by the New Jersey Department of Corrections, Hope Hall is a treatment and work release program for adult male offenders. The focus is on assisting offenders to develop the necessary skills for a successful reentry to the community. Residents receive:

  • 24-hour staff support
  • Individualized case management and discharge planning
  • Cognitive skills training
  • Emotions management
  • Individualized substance abuse treatment and relapse prevention
  • Domestic violence prevention programming
  • GED preparation
  • Life skills programming (budgeting, goal setting, etc.)
  • Job readiness and employment counseling
  • Leisure and recreation programming

Fletcher House
Eligibility: Adult men on inmate full-minimum status within 24 months of parole eligibility. 
Location: 517 Penn Street, Camden, NJ

Accredited by the American Correctional Association and contracted by the New Jersey Department of Corrections, Fletcher House is a treatment and work release reentry program offering educational and employment training opportunities for adult male offenders. Fletchers House residents collaboratively develop a treatment plan with case managers to target their primary criminogenic needs. Residents also receive:

  • Job readiness and employment counseling
  • Life skills programming (budgeting, goal setting, etc.)
  • Domestic violence prevention programming
  • Support groups (AA/NA, parenting classes, etc.)

Fletcher House offers incentives for program participation and full-time work/school enrollment. Residents may earn furloughs home, PACT passes and individual recognition for doing well in the program structure.

Garrett House
Eligibility: Adult women on inmate full-minimum status within 24 months of parole eligibility.
Location: 509 Cooper Street, Camden, NJ

Garrett House is a community release treatment program specifically designed for female offenders. Accredited by the American Correctional Association and contracted by the New Jersey Department of Corrections, Garrett House provides gender-responsive treatment to account for the unique needs of women returning to the community from the criminal justice system. Residents receive evidence-based treatment as well as educational and employment opportunities.

Garrett House residents also receive:

  • 24-hour staff support
  • Individualized case management and discharge planning
  • Cognitive skills training and trauma-informed treatment
  • Emotions management
  • Substance abuse treatment and relapse prevention
  • Job readiness and employment counseling
  • Vocational training
  • Leisure and recreation programming
