Meet Kim Love, Director of Specialized Offender Services at VOADV. With 15 years of experience at the organization, Kim’s dedication and passion for her work are evident. She oversees two of VOADV’s most unique, but impactful programs that she describes as “small but mighty” – the Community Resource Center (CRC), the Family Violence Prevention Program (FVPP), as well as parole transient housing. When an individual is released on parole, they can be going back to an entirely different world than the one they left – technology and transportation routes have changed, necessary employment skills have advanced, family may have relocated and so much more….

Janaye Sims, Program Director at Eleanor Corbett House (ECH), has shown both compassion and commitment to her clients throughout her career in social services. Her journey into the social services field was unexpected. After completing a Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, she initially envisioned a different path. However, after open interviews and a chance encounter with Ms. Levels-Hood, VP of Homeless Services, she soon realized that her talents aligned with helping those in need. Every year, VOADV serves over 200 children through our family shelters. These children live, play, and study at the Anna Sample House Complex, Eleanor Corbett House, and Agape House. Hundreds more students have parents in our programs who are working towards building a better future for themselves and their families. Many of our clients are putting education at the forefront of their efforts to build independent sustainable lives. At VOADV, our shelters provide 24-hour wraparound enriched services that go above and beyond the necessary and expected services for residents to build a strong foundation of life skills and to continue growing once living independently. These include case management, education and employment assistance, linkage to medical, mental and behavioral health care and much more but, we don’t stop there. When Mr. Ernest James, a resident at VOADV’s Hope Hall, arrived for his interview to be a line cook at a local Burger King, he had something that immediately put him a step above other applicants – a certificate from Cathedral Kitchen’s Culinary and Baking Arts Employment Training Course. Knowing the reputation of the program and the well-prepared graduates it produces, the restaurant immediately offered Mr. James a manager position. Meet Kaitlyn Friess, the Regional Director of Safe Return/Navigator for the Tri-County region, which encompasses Gloucester, Cumberland, and Salem Counties. From a young age, Kaitlyn always knew she wanted to help people and started her career as a juvenile probation officer in Philadelphia. We are honored to have hosted Director of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy Dr. Rahul Gupta for part of his visit to New Jersey to meet with public health providers and learn about our work in reentry and addiction treatment. The work we do at VOADV would not be possible without the support and generosity of our community partners. Some of our longest standing support comes from People For The Poor, a South Jersey based charity that raises money for local homeless shelters and soup kitchens.
