Volunteers of America Delaware Valley Marks 15 Years of Holiday Giving With Adopt A Family, Expands Program to Support Seniors

(COLLINGSWOOD, NJ) – Volunteers of America Delaware Valley (VOADV) has launched its 2025 Adopt A Family program, connecting Delaware Valley families with donors to help spread holiday magic. Now in its 15th year, the program provides toys, food, and essential items to local families—and, for the first time, to seniors in need.

“Each year, we’re humbled by the incredible generosity of our communities,” says Daniel L. Lombardo, President/CEO of VOADV. “Last year, thanks to the outpouring of support from our donors and partners, we were able to assist a record-breaking number of families in need. As we celebrate 15 years of Adopt A Family and expand to include the seniors we serve, I’m reminded that the real magic of the holidays comes from the compassion our donors share with others.”

Since 2011, VOADV’s Adopt A Family program has provided holiday gifts, meals, and more to vulnerable families and children throughout the Delaware Valley – from Southern and Central New Jersey to Philadelphia and the surrounding counties – through the support of individual donors, civic and religious organizations, community programs, and corporate partners.

New for 2025, VOADV has launched the Adopt A Senior initiative, extending the program’s reach to older adults living in VOADV’s five affordable housing communities. This addition gives donors the opportunity to bring holiday cheer and a little extra joy to seniors who could use it most.

Participation in Adopt A Family is simple with the program’s online matching tool, which allows donors to view and select families based on size and characteristics such as senior, veteran status, special needs families, non-parental guardians and more.

“We’re excited by the growth and evolution of Adopt A Family,” says Alexis Degan, VP of Development and Communications at VOADV. “The addition of Adopt A Senior is a significant step in making the adoption process even more impactful and customizable for donors, as well as, most importantly, allowing us to support a new demographic of people. That is entirely due to the compassion and generosity we’ve seen in years past.”

The Adopt A Family program is made possible through the support of generous corporate donors, strategic partnerships with local businesses, and individual sponsors. The annual Radiothon in partnership with 97.5 BEN FM and 6ABC will take place December 4 at the Cherry Hill Mall, featuring special guests and prizes including concert tickets, gift cards and more.
