Operation Backpack

Every year, VOADV serves over 200 children through our family shelters. These children live, play, and study at the Anna Sample House Complex, Eleanor Corbett House, and Agape House. Hundreds more students have parents in our programs who are working towards building a better future for themselves and their families. Many of our clients are putting education at the forefront of their efforts to build independent sustainable lives. That is why while most people are enjoying their summer vacations, VOADV is busy preparing for the new school year.

Operation Backpack collects school supplies for students of all ages that are then put together grade-specific kits so that these students can focus on their education, and not their pencils. Operation Backpack is the bridge between the work our case managers do in helping their clients navigate the educational system and the tools these clients need to achieve success once they’re there.

With your help, Operation Backpack can ensure that every student connected with VOADV receives a not only a new backpack, but the confidence they need for a successful school year. Your support gives students from Somerset to Cape May County, Philadelphia to Atlantic City notebooks and calculators, as well as hope and the knowledge that someone out there is cheering them on.

Whether it’s the donation of a single pen or hosting a drive in your community, participating in a backpack stuffing event or making a monetary donation, you can be the difference in a student’s life by participating in Operation Backpack.
