Youth Action Teams
Volunteers of America Delaware Valley offers a volunteer program for high school students called Youth Action Teams.
This program began through a partnership between Volunteers of America National Office and the Major League Baseball Players Association. Throughout the school year, a select group of seniors from local high schools act as Action Team Captains who create volunteer projects that they can complete for our clients within their schools.
With the addition of Philadelphia Electrical and Technology Charter High School, this is our biggest year ever! The addition of this school provides us with our first Action Team in Philadelphia and will help expand volunteer services in that market.
Action Team members do multiple projects per year such as: donation drives, office work, working at special events, food pantry workers, The Storybook Luncheon, Screaming Fans for Oscar Night America, Operation Blessing and many others. Below is the current list of schools and their locations:
- West Deptford High School, West Deptford, NJ
- Gloucester Catholic High School, Gloucester City, NJ
- Camden Catholic High School, Cherry Hill, NJ
- Paul VI High School, Haddonfield, NJ
- Philadelphia Electrical and Technology High School, Philadelphia, PA
- Collingswood High School, Collingswood, NJ
We are in the beginning of a new year and the students are excited to get started.
