Uraina Gray-Scully

Director of Communications

Uraina Gray-ScullyUraina Gray-Scully is the Director of Communications for Volunteers of America Delaware Valley. She graduated Rutgers-School of Arts & Sciences with a Bachelor of Arts in English in 1993. Immediately after, she started working for the Philadelphia Inquirer where she was a copy editor for the business section. Following, she worked at various publishing and printing companies as a writer and editor.

In 1999, she obtained certifications as an Elementary School Teacher and Teacher of English and began teaching in the Pennsauken and Camden school districts.  In 2000, Uraina enrolled full-time at Rutgers-School of Engineering where she furthered her studies to receive a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering in 2003.  For six years, Uraina worked for Changing World Technologies, a non-profit research and development company devoted to converting organic waste into reusable fuels. Starting as a part-time plant operator and lab technician, Uraina became a full-time R&D chemical engineer after receiving her B.S.

In 2007, Uraina began working as a Technical Analyst for Volunteers of America Delaware Valley and was promoted to Director of Communications shortly thereafter.  Uraina continues to teach part-time at Freedom Academy Charter School in Camden.
