RICHARD S. MROZ, ESQ. IS OUR NEW BOARD CHAIRMAN

Richard S. Mroz, Esq., President of Salmon Ventures, Ltd,  has been elected board chairman of Volunteers of America Delaware Valley. He assumed the post on July 1.

“Rick Mroz is an outstanding community leader. He is caring, compassionate and committed to our mission – serving disadvantaged men, women and children,” said Daniel L. Lombardo, President and CEO.

Mroz succeeds Chris Perks, who has served for the past two years. “As chairman, Chris Perks has made countless contributions to this board,” Lombardo said. “On behalf of the organization, I want to thank Chris for his leadership, his counsel, and for all he has done and continues to do for Volunteers of America Delaware Valley.”

Mroz has a longstanding family tie to the organization; his uncle, the late Robert Wilinski, Esq., was a board member two decades ago. “I remember him being active here,” Mroz said. “He enjoyed it very much.”

A native of Camden, NJ and a resident of Haddonfield, NJ, Mroz is a University of Delaware graduate and earned his law degree from Villanova University. In the early 1990s he was Camden County, NJ counsel and went on to serve for six years in the administration of then-NJ Governor Christine Todd Whitman, ultimately as chief counsel.

Mroz said he is “thoroughly impressed” by Volunteers of America Delaware Valley and our staff.

“The people who work for the organization are passionate, caring, interested, responsible…and they just love Volunteers of America Delaware Valley,” he said. “We also have a good group of board members.”

Asked what he envisions as job one for the board, Mroz said, “Given the economy, financial issues are compelling. State funding is going to be tight, and we need to really focus on making sure we use the funding we do get well. We need to do the best we can with what we have.”
