Andre Collins Joins Volunteers of America Delaware Valley to Promote Teamwork and Unity

Camden, NJ - Andre Collins, former Washington Redskins linebacker and 1991 Super Bowl Champion, joined children from the Eleanor Corbett House, Anna M. Sample House and the Newton Creek Civic Association to sign his children’s book entitled “What Teammates Do-The Adventures of Little Andre.” Held at Malandra Hall Community Center, this event promoted teamwork and unity and provided the children with a positive role model to encourage them to always use “togetherness and friendship” to overcome life’s obstacles.

During the event, the children played team-building activities such as “Pass the Football” which showed them the value of helping even the smallest members of their group. As Andre Collins signed footballs, T-shirts, and sports cards, he answered the many questions of the children who wanted to know how he became a professional football player and a successful role model.

Andre Collins started his career as a linebacker from Penn State University, becoming a member of the 1986 National Championship team. He was selected as a First Team All-American in 1989, and in 1990 Collins was selected as the Washington Redskins first-round draft pick. During the 1991 season, Collins and the Redskins defeated the Buffalo Bills at Superbowl XXVI. Andre Collins now serves as the Retired Players Director for the National Football League’s Players Association, and he is the author of the first book in a new series by MVP Kids books.

The children enjoyed the lunch that followed, the book reading by Andre Collins, and balloons and footballs that were given to them for attending.
