Now it's Time We Fought for Them

Volunteers of America Delaware Valley's Home for the Brave will be constructed as part of a renovation of our Aletha R Wright "Vision of Hope" Center.  It will be a 30-bed housing addition for homeless veterans that will offer intensive case management with wrap around supportive services including job training and placement, sustance abuse treatment, mental health treatment and health care.  The program will offer a five-stage approach with the veteran eventually becoming the mentor to others entering the program.

The Statistics:
In 2008, 20% of the homeless in Camdn County were veterans
18% of homeless veterans suffer from a serious mental illness
Homeless veterans are more likely to have drug an alcohol issues
Veterans are less likely to seek help through mainstream services
Nationally there are 107,000 homeless veterans on any given night
47% of homeless veterans served during Vietnam
89% recieved an honorable discharge
